Motorsport UK Registered Marshal. Accredited 2024. First Aid at Work qualified because sometimes the job is messy.
The Work
Stand trackside while expensive metal tries to become less expensive metal. Wave flags. Shout into radios. Occasionally dodge debris. Sometimes dab blood off noses.
Goodwood Festival of Speed. Various UK circuits. The kind of volunteering where you’re up at 5am, standing in the rain, and loving every second of it because you’re fifteen metres from a car worth more than your house doing things physics shouldn’t allow.
Why Do It
Because motorsport doesn’t happen without marshals. Every race, every event, every lap — someone’s standing there making sure drivers go home to their families.
It’s unglamorous. It’s essential. And it puts you closer to the action than any media pass ever could.
